My Friend Flicka

My Friend Flicka is the book I was interested in reading this 6 weeks. It is written by Mary O'Hara, and copyrighted in 1941. This book is probably action and drama because of the things that occur. My Friend Flicka is set in a small area just out of Cheyenne, Wyoming where a ten year old boy named Ken McLaughlin lives and has always grown up being around horses. But Ken was not your typical small town boy he didn't grow up making the best grades or having the happiest family, but he did have Flicka (his horse) this horse understood him like no other and Ken and  Flicka spent all their time together. The overall theme of My Friend Flicka is probably always do what you believe and follow what you believe in.

My Friend Flicka is told in second person, because a narrator is telling the story. I believe the intended audience are animal lovers and people who are adventuress. The genre of My Friend Flicka is probably drama and this book fits me because I love animals and dramatic books. The author keeps me interested by having dramatic events occur and I am always on the edge of my seat about what is going to happen next in the chapter. I feel that the author's style of writing is helpful to people of all ages because of the fact that the author uses such a wide range of vocabulary.

This book affected me because it really shows that people really do care about animals and they will do whatever it takes to keep them safe. Animal Cruelty is a huge problem all through out the world and the fact that this 10 year old boy would do anything to save his horse really changed my prospective on some people in the world because some people in this world really care about animals and how they are treated. This book did not bring up any memories of any books I have read previously but I do hope to read more like it.

I really like the quality of this book because of the way the writing flowed and everything made since when I read it. I think tons of people would like this book and I would recommend it to my friends who love animals and also it is a really good reading overall so I would recommend it to just about everyone.
